Heaven is not inaccessible
26 Jan 2023 • From Bishop Richard Jackson
In this second brief exploration of the Lord's Prayer, Bishop Richard considers what we might understand by the phrase "Our Father in heaven". He says: 'Jesus Christ came from heaven not so much as to get people into heaven as to get heaven into people. Our understanding of Jesus' continued ministry is that he opens access to God through the gift of forgiveness...'.
'When we pray "Our Father in heaven", it can be good to picture God...very close' (rather than in a distant realm). 'Our Father in heaven is an extraordinary invitation to relationship, to a sense of presence...'.
